School and College Speaker
Over the years Stuart has had the opportunity to work in a number of schools and colleges, across the State and Private sectors, including specialist schools colleges as well as though for students with special needs.
Demonstrating his versatility and ability to engage with students from all backgrounds, ages and abilities, he has spoken at events including morning assemblies, year group activities such as Duke of Endinburgh’s Award, sixth form events both in the classroom and as the after dinner speaker.
With a knack for pitching his delivery at just the right level, Stuart has successfully addressed students from preparatory school age (where Barney the bear, his mascot from his solo ocean row is also a sure-fire hit!) through junior and middle school ages and including senior school pupils and college students. In addition, Stuart has delivered presentations and embedded learning at a number of Staff Inset days.
The readily understandable stories he tells, along with the fact that his achievements are within the grasp, and comprehension, of most young people he engages with rubs off on his audiences, lends credibility to what he says and helps them shape their futures, overcome barriers and self-doubts. He’s a catalyst for inspiring people to be the best they can be. Words are powerful, but words born of the challenges Stuart has met are doubly so.
As an accomplished speaker, no one’s better equipped to motivate people of all ages and backgrounds. Having overcome his own disability, Stuart is uniquely qualified to help both disabled and able-bodied people unlock their capabilities. As he’s often proved, it’s about pushing beyond your perceived limits – and being surprised where you arrive. Stuart exemplifies his view that “Achievement in any walk of life is about self-belief”.
When you need a ‘special’ person to inspire your cohort look no further than Stuart Boreham. He exemplifies the sort of ‘special’ you’d expect from a man who’s overcome the significant hurdle of physical disability, and gone on to cross the Atlantic ocean using just his own physical and mental strength and shaped a successful business career too. The sort of ‘special’ you’d expect from a speaker who doesn’t know the meaning of ‘can’t’.
With his understanding of the education sector and your kind of needs, a natural gift as a professional speaker (and empathy with your audience’s needs), Stuart has the ‘Wow!’ factor (it’s hard to define but an audience knows when someone’s got it…!) along with one or more unique differentiators (he is so much more than just another sportsperson or adventurer…).
Few speakers will relate to your classroom challenges like Stuart. Nothing banishes ‘can’t’ or ‘it’s impossible’ better than a regular guy with an astonishing record of against-the-odds achievement. What’s more, Stuart, himself a successful businessman and social entrepreneur, really understands and articulates the benefits not just of making the most of education but also of taking up opportunities and the value of self-belief. As your speaker, he knows how to work with you to get the most from your event – and deliver your messages so the audience will relate them directly to their daily challenges.
Whatever your objectives, with Stuart Boreham as your school or college speaker you’re in for a presentation that will take up to an hour – and last a lifetime.
“I thought your talk was extremely thought-provoking and well structured; very well modulated between the ups and downs of your adventures and couched in a suitably under-stated way, letting the content do the talking.”
Head of Sixth Form – Rendcomb College“Your story, delivered from the heart, is inspirational – indeed awesome.”

About Stuart

Stuart was born in Stornoway, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, in May 1966.
As a child, it was soon apparent that he had difficulties with his legs - cerebral palsy had left him spastic in his lower limbs.
But what he has lacked in strength in his legs he has made up for in willpower to succeed.
